About Our Walks

IMG 0503

Our group is situated in the region of the World Heritage Site of mining in West Devon in the ancient Stannary town of Tavistock. Our walks take place within a radius of about one and half hours drive from our Tavistock base.  Tavistock is situated on the edge of Dartmoor. At times it is rugged and wild, at others  beautiful, with a wealth of local history and industrial archaeology. The numerous neolithic stone rows and hut circles add a sense of wonderment to the landscape. The iconic tors and the valleys and rivers give us a beautiful area to explore. Within reach are good lengths of the South West coast path, both Devon and Cornwall, together with the footpaths, bridleways and ancient tracks through picturesque thatched hamlets and the quiet countryside of rural Devon.

Our walk leaders plan wonderfully interesting and creative routes that stretch not just our bodies but our imagination.

The health benefits, both physical and mental, are well documented. Many walkers who have joined us have found this to be so and we have a tradition of making any new participants welcome.
